The Janusz Korczak Association of Canada is proud to announce the publication of the first English edition of Blumka’s Diary, made possible through a generous grant from the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Vancouver. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wlodzimierz Gelbart for his dedication and many hours of work in preparing this book for publication.

Written and illustrated by award-winning Polish author Iwona Chmielewska, Blumka’s Diary offers a beautifully crafted and deeply moving glimpse into the life and teachings of Dr. Janusz Korczak. Through the eyes of Blumka, one of the children in Korczak’s orphanage, young readers are introduced to the compassionate and visionary educator whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Previously published in multiple languages—including French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, and Russian—this remarkable book is now available in English, translated by Zosia Krasodomska-Jones. The English edition provides a unique opportunity for young readers to learn about Dr. Korczak’s philosophy and the values of respect, kindness, and dignity that he instilled in the children under his care.

The Janusz Korczak Association of Canada is honored to bring this important story to a wider audience, ensuring that the life and legacy of Dr. Korczak remain alive for future generations.
