Cheyenne Cunningham is a PhD candidate in Language and Literacy Education at UBC. She is the 2021/22 recipient of the Janusz Korczak Association of Canada Graduate Scholarship in Children’s Rights and Canadian Indigenous Education.
Cheyenne is from the Katzie First Nation reserve located along the Fraser River in Pitt Meadows, BC. She is enrolled in full-time studies at both SFU and UBC. She has just completed her last semester and will graduate with her Indigenous Language Proficiency Certificate at SFU. She will begin the Diploma in Indigenous Language Proficiency in January 2022. Her future aspirations include becoming an instructor of Indigenous Studies or Indigenous Languages at either UBC or SFU.
